Australian Skilled Occupation List Changes

The Australian Department of Immigration announced changes to the Skilled Occupation List (SOL), effective July 1st 2013. Nothing too drastic, with the removal of only five occupations from the current list, so you could still be swimming with the dolphins.

Here are the occupations that have been removed:-

  •  – Hospital pharmacists
  • –  Retail pharmacists
  • –  Aircraft maintenance engineers, including avionics, mechanical and structures engineers.

Even though these occupations have been removed from the list, there is still a big demand for workers in key sectors such as  health care, engineering, construction and finance. The new list will still include always-in-demand occupations like primary, secondary school and special needs teacher, plumbers, carpenters, accountants, engineers and ICT professionals.

If you’re considering making the move to Australia, check to see if you occupation is on this drop down list.
